Bumblebee: Hypocrites and liars

Here we have China being struck by a disaster worse than that of Burma, and what is in the Australian news (e.g. http://www.news.com.au)? Burma. How USA should be pressured to intervene for aid to arrive to the survivors...

And news coverage on China's quake?

Zero. Zilch. Oh, okay, there is a mention in the "late-breaking news". Government pledge for support or help from USA/Australia? Well, nada in the news too.

Here's the news from news.com's late breaking news: Offers of help have flooded in and foreign rescue teams from Japan, Russia, Taiwan, South Korea and Singapore have arrived.

I don't see Australia or USA there. Looks like they are too busy fighting politics and making a scene about how they so want to help Burma, with selective blindness to another areas of need that has not rejected aid/help. Anyway, I guess China probably doesn't need their help... No use causing more political problems and strife in China too... But I just thought that they were so willing to help those in need such as Burma... that they would at least have offered some help to China. Guess I'm wrong.

It's all just a show.

Bumblebee: Resurrected BigGray

Just a note to the few lucky people with a Fujitsu Siemens Loox T830: there are Windows Mobile 6.1 ROMs floating around the internet...

In fact, I am blogging using one of them. Here are a few tips:
1. Choose a ROM with FSC Keylock still installed if you will be carrying it on the belt.
2. None of the ROMs will support Video calling at the moment. MMS is installed separately.

Advantages to ROM upgrade:
1. Generally, faster, more responsive and more reliable.
2. If you use pull-email (i.e. You set it to check for emails regularly), the T830 will be a lot more reliable - less hang-ups an lock-ups.
3. If you use email with IMAP servers, you can set the deleted mails to be deleted from the server as well.
4. All the other small niceties of WM6.1 versus WM5.

Bumblebee: Drool...

My wife's new toy... Makes me drool! This is the first responsive Windows Mobile phone that I have used! The features are great (gps seems weak... Unable to get a signal lock yet!) and the implementation is good. Drool. I highly recommend the Samsung i780 to anyone considering a Windows Mobile phone.. It will probably be the best PDA phone for this year when it comes to practical everyday use.

Bumblebee: Life? What life?

Heh. Both of us have started our internship... And it is certainly good to be making money again, but it is also taking so much time! We have had barely time for each other... And then there's daily chores that cannot be done during office hours, and yet shops close early in this part of the world!

Meanwhile, gadget-wise, I ended up bringing my Tungsten C with me everyday. It is both good to have an extra device (I left my T830 at home once, and twice it acted funny) and it is a lot faster and more efficient than my T830. Yet, I think the T830 is still one of the most practical and useful PDA phone that runs Windows Mobile. The only sad part is that Fujitsu-Siemens have decided to quit the business, and a lot of minor quirks (that does impact daily uses) will never be sorted out :(.

Ok. Just here to say hi and say that we are still around! Have a fantastic day to everyone!

colafish : Christmas gift

I have been a good girl so my Santa got me these...

Close up of the first gift:
A rubber dead rat door stopper! Something to welcome the year of Rat! Woohoo. (the sadistic side of us). I tell ya, it's such a cutie. Its eyes are shut so tight into crosses, like in the cartoon..

And...  Aren't they gorgeous??!!  12L and 3L. A 2 in 1 set. They make throwing garbage a pleasure...:) ( You won't find such fine and eh-hem cheap bargain in Ikea *wink*)

By the way, the Santa has officially moved in to EBENEZER place.... with me. (He got an old 4 in 1-including-stylus-pen from Mrs Santa..)

colafish : Freebies!! :D

'Free' is really a magical word.  It never fail to increase my heart rate and dilate my pupils..

Today, hubby and I both got 2 freebies! woohoo! And most importantly, we love these freebies!

Loot #1 : Brita Fill & Go bottle x 2, courtesy of Fitness First Adelaide City! Bye-bye yucky tasting water from water cooler...

Loot #2 : little pen torch x 2, by MDA (one of the practice insurance agency)..they were supposed to be the door gifts for 1 of the cocktail party for Flinders medical graduates. We could not make it last minute as the flight from Sydney to Adelaide was delayed and we were too tired when we reached Adelaide. The kind manager actually kept these door gifts (and of course, the insurance information booklets) and post to us. *so touched*

So, we are happy and contented today. :)

Colafish: Cute or not?

I like the green one :).

I am a geek :). I tend to buy gadgets and PDA phones with many features that might not be offered by the current ones offered in the market. If you are like me, you might be purchasing Windows Mobile phones that are not sold by your carrier. I am using Three network. So, the following is a quick guide to set up most Three network features on your Windows Mobile phone. I have set up mine this way and it works for me. YMMV. :) this is a brief guide. I can write a step-by-step one if there is a need for it.

Three Mail
Add an account in your mail client (e.g. Messaging). Use the following:
Use IMAP4 protocol
IMAP server: mail.three.net.au
SMTP: smtp.three.net.au
Username: your full Three email address
Password: your Three email password

If you are using gmail, you can go to settings and set it to forward mails to your Three Mail, and store another copy in gmail (so you get the mail in both your phone and your gmail). You can also set your email address to your gmail address, so people send their emails there when they reply to your mails. You can also set it to check mails every 15 minutes or the likes. (It's free on Three!)

Network settings
See screenshots below... Note that Three no longer uses separate settings for internet and My3.

2. Copy both CAB files to your Windows Mobile device.
3. Use File Explorer to install them, and that's it!

You can try some free videos on your phone to confirm (e.g. go to Pricing). It works even with 240x240 resolution screens!
